Metadata Rationalization using Collibra

Hi all

Wanted to check if any of you successfully did metadata rationalization using Collibra.
Say, I suspect that there are plenty of columns in a data mart that are named differently but store the same content.
Example: premium_paid_dt, premium_payment_dt

To flag the above 2 columns as similar in the form of a relationship diagram or to flag them as same “type” - what features should I go for in Collibra?

  • data profiling along with classification? do I need to define classes library?

You can just use the “Business Asset represents Data Asset” and link a business term to your column.
If you have multiple columns that all link to the business term “Payment date”, there you go.

The more elaborate solution is the guided stewardship, first linking the columns to data attributes in a logical model.

Arthur has got it right. Strongly recommend you make your enterprise business glossary / business terms the focal point as the link. Your life will be miserable if the glossary isn’t a foundation piece of your OM.
